Open and Affirming & Welcoming<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Peoples Church of Chicago is a United Church of Christ’s “Open and Affirming” and Unitarian Universalist Association’s “Welcoming” congregation. We welcome the participation and leadership of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer individuals in the life of the church. We march in Chicago’s annual Pride Parade and commemorate the Transgender Day of Remembrance.<\/p>\n

Uptown Community Podcast<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n\n\n<\/p>\n

The Uptown Community Podcast<\/a> (UCP) is a bimonthly podcast sponsored by the Peoples Church of Chicago. The UCP engages the Uptown neighborhood and its challenges such as affordable housing, food insecurity and preserving culture, history, art, and diverse faiths. The discussions are grounded in Unitarian Universalist values.<\/p>\n

Laptop Ministry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The laptop ministry distributes older laptops refurbished with easy to use Linux distributions to people living in Chicago with the goal of reducing e-waste while benefiting folks in Chicago that need a laptop. The initiative became a ministry of the church in April of 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are currently seeking laptop inkind donations. Anyone with working laptops newer than 2012 are accepted. Please call 872-985-5095 to inquire about getting on the laptop wait-list. Calls and messages left to be added on the wait-list will be returned on Sundays. Inkind donations of laptop drop offs can be done at the ICA reception office, 24\/7: 4750 N. Sheridan. Logistics for picking up laptop lot donations (more than 5 units) to our ministry can be worked out during the week; Please text or leave a voicemail at 872-985-5095 and someone from the ministry will return the message.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
