Susan Harlow, Pastor Emerita<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleschurchchicago.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/389078_266052866842374_310932514_n-e1457044120766.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-446\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-446 size-thumbnail alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.peopleschurchchicago.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/389078_266052866842374_310932514_n-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I have a long interest in urban ministry and am delighted to be here at the Peoples Church as Pastor.\u00a0 We are a myriad of folks here-some homeless, some housed, some formerly homeless, black, white and brown, college educated and those without diplomas, elders, &#8220;baby boomers,&#8221; Gen X, and &#8220;Millennials,&#8221; as well as many more descriptors for the fabulous people who call the Peoples Church home.\u00a0 I want to provide leadership in worship and organizationally so that the Peoples Church can make a real difference in the lives of our members, our neighbors, the wider community and city.\u00a0 The Peoples Church has a long history of social justice advocacy and providing food for those in need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rev. Jean Darling, Minister Emerita<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleschurchchicago.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jean1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-137 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.peopleschurchchicago.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/jean1-e1412349522518-150x139.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"170\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a>I\u2019m a born-and-raised Unitarian-Universalist, with a life-long love of peace and economic justice, and cut my teeth in the anti-war movement of the 1960s.\u00a0 My mother was a come-outer from a Southern fundamentalist family and loved wildflowers and the natural world; my dad was an atheist who loved science and history, and I embrace the gifts they both gave me.<\/p>\n<p>As a person who\u2019s always had a foot in two worlds, Peoples Church has been a great place for me to pastor from 2008 to 2017. Peoples Church is Christian and Unitarian, theist and agnostic, gay and straight, black, white and brown.\u00a0 It&#8217;s Jesus&#8217; model of loving our neighbor that brings us together.<\/p>\n<p>Living now in New Mexico, I love stories, dance, music, and integrating the arts into worship.\u00a0 The interfaith, justice, and peace traditions of Peoples Church are dear to me, and the congregation plans to continue the traditions of our great heretic ancestors, Hiram Washington Thomas and Preston Bradley by being just ahead of the curve in\u00a0 worship and our actions in the world.\u00a0 You are welcome here!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rev.
